Deconstructing a song Workshop
We will spend the first hour learning one song and then deconstruct it to study the melody, rhythm, harmonic voicing, texture, form, tonality, lyrics, and meter while exploring why and how these musical elements help give historical, geographical, spiritual, and emotional context to the song. During the second half of the workshop, we will split into small groups and reconstruct the song to create something altogether unique that tells a story from our individual/small group perspectives. The instructor will provide individualized instruction as needed to the break-out groups. Participants will be invited to share/perform their reconstructed song at the end.
This workshop is appropriate for individuals 15 years and up.
